Festival

St. Joseph Church has an annual Festival. The first Festival was held in the summer of 1944. For many years it was on the first Sunday of August. The Festival has been growing and changing every year.

The fun begins at 11:00am and continues until 5:00pm. Local bands provide live music. They can be found playing under the big tent and in the church hall.

St. Joseph is famous for their main course of Fried Chicken and slow cooked Kettle Beef. Delicious side dishes include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, slaw, liver dumplings (a local favorite), dessert and drink. This is served in the air-conditioned, handicapped accessed hall. Carryouts are available.

On the grounds there are food stands serving hamburgers, hot dogs, deep fried “Specialty Foods” and roasted corn on the cob served with melted butter. Bingo starts at noon. Prizes are beautiful quilts from Branson, Mo. Also offered are other games of chance, a Grand Raffle, a country store, craft and vendor booths and ice-cold refreshments. For the younger set we have games, a play area, magic show, ventriloquist and carnival rides.

It is a day to visit with old friends, make new friends, relax and idle the day away.

From St. Louis take Interstate 55 to Festus then take Highway 67 south to Bonne Terre. We are located at 15 Saint Joseph Street.
