Over the weeks to come I hope to share with you the road map laid out by 250 bishops who were called to Rome by Pope Benedict XVI to discuss Blessed John Paul II’s meaning of “New Evangelization” and what we as Catholics are called to do to carry out the new Pentecost.

In the Preface for the solemnity of Pentecost in the Roman Missal points out to us “Today we celebrate the great beginning of your Church when the Holy Spirit made known to all peoples the one true God,” as such we are taking part in time and space the beginning of our Church.

As the disciples were given the strength to carry out their mission to proclaim the Gospel to the world, we are called in the New Evangelization to once more go out to welcome all. It is said that three thousand were converted on Pentecost, spreading Christianity to Judea, Samaria, and Galilee, and later to Cyprus and Antioch; Places that we seem to have forgotten over time.

Let us receive today the gift of Pentecost and reach out beyond the borders of our parish to the world to be evangelizers of our Catholic faith.

St. Joseph’s Benefit Golf Tournament – Save the Date

Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 9, 2013, and make plans to share in the fun and fellowship of the St. Anne Picnic. A wonderful meal of fried chicken, kettle beef, liver dumplings and enticing side-dishes will be served. Carry-out orders will be available. Adult dinner tickets are $9.00 and children dinner tickets are $4.00. There will be games for adults and children, Bingo, and a live band.
